Problem

“There was a problem loading the data setup file” error. Sometimes you will see the text in the error mention “Access to the path . . . is denied”.

Solution #1 - Delete and regenerate the setup files

This will involve deleting a few of our setup files so that they can be generated using your Windows user security permissions.

  1. Make sure that you do not currently have the WireWorks Setup open in Revit

  2. Navigate to: C:\ProgramData\GTP Services\Revit Electrical in the Windows File Browser

  3. Delete the following files:

    1. Default.setup

    2. DefaultSpacingMatrix.spacing

    3. GtpxRevitElectrical.local

  4. Go back into Revit

  5. Open the WireWorks Setup

    1. If you do not get an error, then click the OK button to close the WireWorks Setup and you’re good to go

    2. If you do get an error, click OK to get through it/them, then click the OK button to close the WireWorks Setup

  6. If you got an error in Step 5, please move on to Solution #2

Solution #2 - Local admin rights on the folder

This will involve validating the folder security permissions for the WireWorks setup files.

  1. Make sure that you do not currently have the WireWorks Setup open in Revit

  2. Navigate to: C:\ProgramData (%programdata%) in the Windows File Browser

  3. Right-click on the GTP Services folder and click Permissions

  4. Verify that your group/user has permissions to Read, Write, and Modify

    1. This generally has to be done with some help from your IT department

  5. Go through the steps in Solution #1 to recreate your setup files with your new permissions
