Internet

A stable, reliable, high-performing internet connection with adequate bandwidth and speed is perhaps the single most important key to success.

Revit / AutoCAD / Fabrication

Revit / AutoCAD versions 2019 or newer are supported.

Shop Computers

Desktop/Laptop Minimum

  • 64-bit Microsoft® Windows® 10 or Windows 11
  • Intel® i-Series, Xeon®, AMD® Ryzen, Ryzen Threadripper PRO. 2.5 GHz or Higher. The highest affordable CPU speed rating is recommended.
  • 16 GB RAM (though more is better)
  • 1280 x 1024 with true color (graphics card upgrade with additional RAM is better)
  • 10 GB free disk space

Tablet Minimum

  • Surface Pro 7 or newer (standard with TigerStop) and recommended over iPads
  • Apple iPad or iPad Pro
    • 3/25/22 Note: The Apple iOS 15.x update includes a memory limit. As a result, in some cases, large models will not load in the STRATUS viewer.  The GTP team has been in communication with Autodesk and tried some changes to get these models to load on the iPad, but these changes have failed. Until this issue is resolved the GTP team recommends to:
      • simplify geometry for manufacturer-provided part families used within Revit

      • create separate 3D views by area or level and make one of them the default rather than the overall 3D view

      • use non-Apple devices

  • 16 GB RAM (more is better)
  • Stylus Pen and keyboard (recommended)

Zebra Label Printer

Scanner

To scan a tracking code, the scanner must be integrated with a computer.

Wi-Fi

  • High-speed internet with bandwidth for multiple simultaneous connections is very important.
  • Business-class internet and WIFI is required for shops.
  • Wireless must provide adequate coverage to all areas of the facility.

BIM 360 Requirements

  • GTP is an Autodesk reseller and can provide BIM 360 Docs licensing (to U.S. only).
  • While BIM 360 user accounts can be created for a shared login such as shopworker@contractor.com, this does limit the level of detail provided in tracking logs, as this user will be associated currently with tracking log entries.
  • We recommend individual user accounts for all modelers, project managers, and foremen.  Shared accounts are acceptable for most shop and field workers.
  • Shop computers connected to cutting machines (Ex. TigerStop) should each have their own account.
