Aliases (Admin)

An Alias is the way to identify different property names in different parts that mean the same thing. For example, properties that might reference a size might include Diameter, Diameter #1, Branch Diameter #1, Product Size, etc.  Once defined, an alias can be used in a filter or report. By defining an alias to combine properties from different parts, you can configure a report without having to worry if you are getting the right value from each part.  Note: For reporting, Aliases are only used with parts, not assemblies or packages. To report for assemblies, use a Stratus.Field or Stratus.Item in the report to populate assembly names for assemblies.

Configure

To configure an alias:

  1. Under Admin > Company > Aliases, click the New Alias button and name the Alias.

    1. Name - The name given to the alias.
    2. References - The number of places where the alias is referenced. Click the References link to display these references.

    3. Notes - A note describing the purpose of the alias.

  2. Expand the Alias to add Alias Properties.  Click the New Alias Property button.
  3. Click the Name drop-down to select the property.
    1. To reference a Stratus Field, select the field name (Ex. Stratus.Field.GTP SYS MP PL Pipe Length Only).

  4. Repeat until all Alias properties have been added to the Alias.
  5. Use the Sequence column to tell Stratus which values should be used first in filters and reports:

    1. The lowest sequence number is ordered at the top making it your first choice.
    2. Numbers can be negative.
    3. Sequence numbers do not have to be unique.
    4. Stratus will use the first alias it finds that includes a value.

Add Alias to a Report

To Add an Alias to a Report:

  1. Edit the Report Fields of a new or existing report where the Format is ZPL or CSV.
  2. Click the Property Name and select the Alias.
