Updated the Import Process for Revit

This update begins after a model is published and assemblies exist in STRATUS. Parts in these assemblies can be added to or removed from the assemblies in Revit, then, after using the STRATUS Import feature in Revit, the parts will display in the correct assembly in STRATUS. Note: The model does not need to be re-published in order to update the assembly in STRATUS. To resolve conflicts, use the STRATUS Assembly Conflict Resolution settings under Admin > Company > Settings > Specific to Revit as follows:

  • STRATUS is always right - When STRATUS is always right is selected, any assemblies created in Revit that conflict with an assembly in STRATUS will be considered “invalid” and will not be published to STRATUS.

  • Revit is always right - When Revit is always right is selected, any assemblies created in STRATUS that conflict with an assembly in Revit will be considered “invalid” and will be deleted on import. Previously, after a model import, an assembly created in STRATUS that conflicted with an assembly created in Revit would not be deleted until after the next model publish which caused confusion.

  • Prompt User - When Prompt User is selected, the behavior will follow the selected rule above at the time of the prompt.

Updated Default View Selection for Packages Viewer and Assemblies Viewer

90% of the time the default view in the Packages and Assemblies Viewer will display the needed information. In some cases, like risers, the default view may not include all of the model parts and will need to be overridden. Only a Project Admin can change and override a default view.

  1. Users who are not a Project Admin under Admin > Project > Team do not have a View option in the Packages Viewer or the Assemblies Viewer. Below is an example on the Packages Viewer.

  2. To override a default view, a Project Admin must go separately to the Packages Viewer and/or the Assemblies Viewer and change the view. In this example, the Top half view displays the full dimensions of the pipe but does not display the bottom pipe parts because they were not included in this view.

  3. If the Project Admin selects a view that does not include all of the model parts included in the Package or Assembly, the following message will display and the Project Admin will need to select a different view.

  4. After a Project Admin selects a view (Ex. Full model) that includes all of the model parts for the Package or Assembly, anyone who opens the Package or Assembly will see the selected view.

Added Company Roles

Added a new Company Roles tab. Yes, that makes 34 tabs under Admin > Company depending on your permissions! But this new tab is used to control which Admin tabs a user can access. For example, some shops have multiple “Admins” but want a role like a Shop Admin to control which Admin tabs can be viewed.

To add Company Role:

  1. By default under Admin > Company > Company Roles, all current Administrators will be automatically assigned to the Administrator Company Role and all non-administrators will be assigned to the Standard User Company Role. A Company Admin can create and permission new Company Roles.

  2. Click the Add Company Role button and enter a company role (Ex. Shop Admin) and then save.

  3. To configure the new Company Role, click the Select Roles to Show button. A Select Roles dialog similar to the following will display.

  4. Check the new role and then click Close. The new Company Role will display is ready to be edited.

  5. Each row represents a tab under Admin > Company. Check the tabs that the role can access.

  6. Then, assign the Company Role to individual users under Admin > Company > Users.

  7. Next time the user logs in, the tabs selected for the Company Role will display.

Added Container Upload Feature

Added the ability to download existing Container configurations and upload a CSV file of new or edited Container configurations. With this feature, containers can be managed in a spreadsheet rather than the Admin > Company > Containers page. Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to Admin > Company > Containers.

  2. Click the CSV button. Download the file which will be named Containers - Company Admin(1).csv or something similar.

  3. With the .CSV file open you can see the required comma-delimited column headings:

    1. Name - Required. Special characters can be used. If there is a duplicate name in the .CSV file, the container that is in row 17 will replace a container that is in row 3, for example.

    2. Description - Optional

    3. Container Type - Required and must include one of the following. If the field is blank, it will default to Box in STRATUS.

      1. Area Basket Box Cart Pallet Rack Shelf Shipping Trailer Truck

    4. Length - Optional. If this field is blank, it will display 0” in STRATUS.

    5. Width - Optional. If this field is blank, it will display 0” in STRATUS.

    6. Height - Optional. If this field is blank, it will display 0” in STRATUS.

  4. With these column headings, you can add or edit containers given the requirements above.

  5. Once your comma-delimited .CSV container file is saved, on the Admin > Company > Containers page, click the Import CSV button. The Import Containers dialog will display.

  6. Browser to locate the .CSV file and then click Open. The Upload Containers CSV File dialog will display.

  7. Once the file has uploaded, click the Close button.

  8. The Import Containers dialog will display. Click Upload. To replace everything on the containers page click the Import button.

  9. The file will process and will display the Import was successful message.

  10. The list of CSV containers will display.

Changed Property Overrides Label and Permissions

Renamed the label Property Overrides to Company BOM Overrides. The purpose of this change is to more accurately inform the user that overriding a BOM Line Item property is a company-wide change, not just a change to the selected BOM. In addition, to reduce unintended changes to Part Template properties, permission to access Company BOM Overrides has been restricted to those whose Company Role includes Part Templates. See the Company Roles (Admin) article for more information.

This change will be seen in the following areas of STRATUS:

  1. On the Package’s BOM > BOM table

  2. For any line item, click the Company BOM Overrides button to display the Company BOM Overrides dialog.

  3. Under Admin > Company > Part Templates select a part and then click the BOM Overrides tab.

Fixed a Build Assembly for Nested Families Issue

Fixed an issue where checking the Build Assembly for Nested Families option under Admin > Company > Part Templates did not create assemblies for nested families on publish. See the Revit Parts - Build Assembly for Nested Family article for more information.

Fixed an Issue Displaying Instanced Family Assemblies on Assemblies Dashboard

Fixed an issue displaying Instanced Family Assemblies on Assemblies Dashboard. In addition, for nested family assemblies, the number of instances in the Instance column no longer displays as STRATUS can’t know if they are identical or not.

Updated Purchasing Allow Alternates

Updated the Purchasing Allow Alternates feature to display whether or not alternate products will be accepted from suppliers for individual line items. For example:

  1. When an Order is created or edited, a Purchaser can allow alternate products for each line item.

  2. The Allow Alt. information will display in a variety of places including:

    1. The Order Detail.

    2. The New Request Dialog.
