Import Mappings (Admin)

An Import Mapping tells STRATUS where data resides in your Revit part family. STRATUS can pull out custom family data to generate a cut list. For example, for a family like a hanger family, the model will need to include data like the type and length of struts and the type and length of rods. This data will be tied to an ID so that when a cut list is generated and is sent to a tool, the parts will have a data relationship with that tool which means the element knows when it was cut and can update STRATUS tracking statuses. Import Mappings provide a framework to recognize CSV and TXT cut list files.

Create New Import Mapping

  1. Configure cut list Import Mappings under Admin > Company > Import Mappings.
  2. Click the New Import Mapping button, name it, and then save. The Import Mapping can reference shared families or host families. These are the only fields that can be used on labels generated with the Import Mapping workflow.

  3. In advance of creating an Importing Mapping, before you can identify fields that will be used in the Import Mapping Fields (above) you'll need to create a report that will contain the fields.
    1. Filter - Before you create a report, you'll want to create a Filter that will isolate the elements. For example, if you are creating a Strut import mapping, you might filter to Trapeze hangers or to channel strut. Either could be used to extract the strut length.

    2. Import Mapping Values - Determine which properties to include in the Import Mapping. In a Viewer, open the STRATUS Properties tool and then select the element. Scroll through the properties to determine properties to use. In this example:
      1. Attachment Cut Length will be the length of the strut.
      2. Attachment 1 provides the type or material of strut.
    3. Report - Create a report that extracts the data to be used in the Importing Mapping included all required fields and the optional fields you want to include.
      1. Format - CSV
      2. Item Type - Part
      3. Part Filter - The filter you created above.
      4. Cut List Import - Must be checked
      5. Report Fields - Add the report fields add to be used in the Importing Mapping including all required fields and the optional fields you want to include. Here's an example:

  4. Seed the Importing Mapping - To seed the Importing Mapping with the report fields, refresh the Models > Viewer, run the report created above under Actions > Reports, and then click the Download button once the report displays.

  5. Upload Seed Report to Import Mapping - Return to the Admin > Company > Import Mappings tab, click the Browse button associated with the Import Mapping, locate the report downloaded above, and then upload the file. Note: The display does not show the uploaded file.

  6. Once a Seed Report has been uploaded, expand the row to tell STRATUS about the Header row. Once selected, STRATUS will automatically fill-in and save the mapping fields with your Header rows.

    1. Area (Optional) - Element Area property.
    2. Assembly ID (Optional) - Element Assembly ID property.
    3. CAD ID (Optional) - Element CAD ID property. Links your report back to the modeled elements inside STRATUS.
    4. Description (Optional) - Element Description property.
    5. Item Number (Optional) - Element Item Number property.
    6. Length (Required) - Element Length property.
    7. Length 2 (Optional) - Element Length 2 property.
    8. Level (Optional) - Element Level property.
    9. Material (Required) - Element Material property.
    10. QR Code (Optional) - Element QR Code property.
    11. Quantity (Optional) - Element Quantity property. Use if the element has a Quantity field or you can use a field generated in a STRATUS report.
    12. Size (Required) - Element Size property.
    13. User Data 1 (Optional) - Element User Data 1 property.
    14. User Data 2 (Optional) - Element User Data 1 property.
    15. ProjectID (Optional) -
    16. ModelID (Optional)
  7. If the Required fields have not been set, during the Import Cut List process on the Package's Cut List Tab, once the Report and the Import Mapping have been selected and Import is clicked, the following message will display which indicates the Seed report was not created.

Add Custom Properties to Label

To add any part property to a label for your cut list import mapping:

         Create Data Fields

  1. Identify the part property you want to add to a label. For example:
    1. Attachment – type of attachment on a hanger (Ex. Sammy)
    2. System  the part’s system propertyy
  2. Under Admin > Company > Reports, create a Report that includes up 2 additional part properties.

  3. Run the report.
  4. Download the report file.
  5. Under Admin > Company > Import Mappings, create a New Import Mapping.
  6. Browse to locate the above report file.
  7. Under the User Data 1, select the part property.
  8. Do the same for the User Data 2 field if your report included a second part property.

Add Field to Tool Label Template
  9. Under Admin > Company > Tools, edit the Label Template to include the User Data 1 field.
    The syntax is ^FD{{userData1}}^FS
    1. Do the same for the User Data 2 field if your report included a second part property.

      Generate a Cut List Report
  10. Now that the Import Mapping and Label Template are ready, you can generate a cut list report.
  11. Under Packages > Package > Attachments, select the report created in step #2 above.
    1. Review the report to make sure it contains valid data in the new fields added to the report.

  12. Under Packages > Package > Cut Lists
    1. Click the Import Cut Lists button.
    2. Select the Select the file that contains the cut lists option. If it does not include your report, make sure that the report above has the Cut List Import checkbox checked.
    3. Select the report that contains the cut lists and then select the import mapping.

    4. Click Import and the cut list will display.
    5. Select the Station and then click the Send Cut List to Station button. Access the cut list on the station either at the TigerStop station or under Shops > Shop > Station Name (below).

      Print Labels
  13. To print labels, go to the Packages Dashboard and click the Print Labels button for a package to print the labels on your selected label printer.
