Stratus Lightning
This article describes how to upload a Fabrication Database to Stratus using Stratus Lightning.
Stratus Lightning Summary
The Stratus Lightning app exposes custom data and services in Stratus without having direct access to the database by the users publishing from Revit, synchronizing Fabrication database changes into Stratus , and unlocking the ability to Add Lightning Catalog Parts to a package.
Stratus Lightning Installation
For the person publishing, download and install the GTP Lightning app by clicking the link on the Stratus Help page and then follow the instructions.
Stratus App Key
Generate App Key
Before Lightning can be used, an Admin must create a Lightning App Key.
In Stratus, go to Admin > Company > App Keys.
Click New App Key
Partner App - GTP Lightning
Run as User - A user who has permission to publish to Stratus.
Once the app key is created, copy the Key and provide it to the user who will publish the database with Lightning.
Add to Lightning
To launch Lightning with the App Key:
Open Lightning.
Paste the Stratus App Key into the Open API App Key text box, and then click Save.
After Lightning restarts, the fabrication Configuration tab will display the available versions and a list of services from your Fabrication database.
In this example, Fabrication 2024 is selected. The available databases will display.
Hover over the database upload button to verify the correct path.
Click the upload button to start the upload process. The first time the database is published and depending on the size of the database, it may take awhile to complete because it is gathering everything from your database. When the database uploads successfully, the synchronized column will change to yes.
Down the road, as the local database is updated, the upload button will change to green to inform you that there have been local changes made to your database. When you publish the updated database, Lightning will scan the database to see what has changed and only upload the changed items so it will be much faster. And, once the database is published, it can be published again without having direct access to it on the machine, so it will essentially look to Stratus to find that information and pull that data.
Add Lightning Catalog Parts
Publishing a database to Stratus with Lightning also unlocks the Add Lightning Catalog Parts feature where items from the Fabrication database catalog can be added to the package and published to Stratus.
To use the Add Lightning Catalog Parts feature:
Publish the Fabrication Database using Stratus Lightning.
Open a package from a model that uses the Fabrication Database.
Under the Items tab and the Parts section, the Add Lightning Catalog Parts button will display as a plus icon.
Click the Add Lightning Catalog Parts button. The Add Parts dialog will display. Select one or parts and then click the Publish Items to Stratus button.
See the Lightning Catalog Parts article for more information.
