Examples

Automatically Select a Station when a Cut List is Generated

In this example, when a cut list is generated the Station will automatically be selected based on the Material and Trade Size. This example can be used to configure one Material and Station, but also demonstrates how to select 2 different stations based on the Material and Trade Size.

Configure the Materials

  1. Create a New Material for the larger trade size:
    1. Name = Hard Copper
    2. Description = Type L Hard Copper 3/4" to 1 ½”
    3. Material Type = Pipe
  2. Save.
  3. Expand the Material to enter Material Fields
    1. Material = Hard Copper
      1. The Material must match the Material property of the part.


    2. Material Aliases (Optional) – None
    3. Nominal Length (ft) – 20’
      1. This is the stock length.
    4. Trade Size – ¾”
    5. Max Trade Size – 1 ½”
    6. Repeat for the smaller trade size.


  4. Configure a Tool
    1. Configure a Tool for each station. See the Tools article for more information.

  5. Configure the Station
    1. Configure the station that will receive the larger Hard Copper material.
      1. Click the New Station button.
      2. Name = Copper - Type L Hard Copper 1 1/2"
      3. Description = Copper - Type L Hard Copper 3/4" to 1 1/2"
      4. Processor = Pipe Shop, or whatever processor is configured to process the material.
      5. Tool = Select the Tool configured to handle the large Hard Copper material.
      6. Save.
      7. Edit Materials – Click the Edit Materials button and select the large material.


    2. Repeat these steps to configure the station that will receive the smaller Hard Copper material.

  6. Generate a Cut List
    1. Select a package that has one or both sizes of Hard Copper material.
    2. Under Packages > Package > Cut Lists, click the Generate a Cut List button.
    3. Locate the material in the cut list. The Station should be automatically selected. Below 2 different Stations have been automatically selected based on the Material and Trade Size.
