Shops Viewer

The Shop Viewer is a new feature that works in conjunction with the Containers configuration. Combined, these tools enable a company to view a model of their shop and yard facility, generate QR Code for containers, tools, and other deliverable components, and position them in the shop model where they can be tracked. The shop and container models can utilize any file format that can be viewed in BIM 360 including Revit and AutoCAD models.

Upload Facility File and Container or Tool Files to BIM 360

  1. In BIM 360, setup a new project for facility related model files. You can configure multiple projects for multiple locations.
  2. In STRATUS, sync the project to STRATUS under Admin > Company > Projects, click the Refresh Projects from BIM 360 button. In Admin > Company > Projects > Project
    1. Set the Project Status to Facility.

  3. In BIM 360, create subfolders, if needed.
    1. Facility models subfolder.
    2. Container models subfolder (Ex. Truck, Trailer, Container), tool models (Ex. ShopSaw, Forklift, Palletjack, Rack, etc.). If you are using Revit, you might need to find a Revit family for each container or tool and then place each in a separate model.
  4. In Revit, AutoCAD, or other file format, create a facility model. This can be as basic or as detailed as you like. Later, you will place container and tool assets in and around the facility which will be separate files.
  5. In Revit, AutoCAD, or other file format, create a model or representation for each container or tool you want to add to the facility model. Each should be a separate file.
    1. This can be as basic or as detailed as you like.
    2. Take note of the Length, Width, Height of the representation. You will need this information on the Containers configuration page.
    3. For example, in Revit, you can download a container .RFA and place it in a new .RVT. It is recommended that you turn off the ground floor display before uploading to BIM 360.
  6. In BIM 360:
    1. Upload the facility model to a BIM 360 project folder.
    2. Upload each container or tool file to a BIM 360 project folder.
    3. If you uploaded a .RVT or .DWG file, open the file within BIM 360 before you link it to STRATUS.

STRATUS Configuration and Label Printing Configuration

  1. In STRATUS, create a new Processor under Admin > Company > Processors.
    1. Set the Tracking Status Group to Shop.
    2. Select the facility model uploaded to the BIM 360 project above.

  2. In STRATUS, create a new Container under Admin > Company > Containers
    1. Name – This name is printed on container labels and it will display on the container label on the Shops > Viewer page when the Toggle Label Display button is enabled.

    7. Facility Model – Once the row is saved, you can associate the container file with the container.

  3. In STRATUS, Create Items under Shops > Items. An item is a way to associate a QR code label with an asset that you want to track through the shop (Ex. Tool, Container, and Asset).
    1. Click Add Item.
      1. Color - In the shop viewer, you will (in the future) be able to display the Asset Tag color or the actual container representation (RVT or DWG). This will also be used to color any items that do not have a model associated with them.
      2. Attached to – Determine what asset type the tag will be attached to. This selection drives the Items drop-down list.
        1. Tool – Includes the tools you have defined under Admin > Company > Tools.
        2. Container – Includes the containers you have defined under Admin > Company > Containers
        3. Asset - The Asset option is for items that have not yet been defined or are one-off items. You will be prompted to enter a description.  For example, if you want to track a delivery of washers, you can create an item.
