Containers Assign

The Container feature provides the ability to select Containers, add items (Parts, Assemblies, Packages, Shop Items, and other Containers) to the Container, and print a Container label or a Container Details report. Once a label or report that includes a QR Code is printed, it can be scanned to display a landing page where Tracking status changes can be made to a container that trickle down to all their contents. See the Containers (Admin) article for more information on how to configure containers.

Add Items to Container - Manual

To select and manually add items to a container:

  1. Under Containers > Assign, click the Container drop-down.
  2. Select a target container. If the list of containers is long, you can limit the list of Containers by selecting the container type (Area, Basket, etc.) and a list of those container types will display.

  3. With the container selected the Containers page is ready for you to manually add items to the container.

  4. Exclude Contained items - Determine whether or not you want to Exclude Contained items which will exclude items from the Manual Selection list if the item is contained in any container. Checking this option is a device-specific setting and will be cleared when the user unchecks the setting or when the browser cache is cleared.
    1. Unchecked (Default) - When Unchecked, the default behavior of adding/removing items to/from the Contents of the container is that packages, assemblies, parts, and containers that have been added to the currently selected container are filtered out of the lists on the left under Manual Selection.

    2. Checked - When checked:

      1. The setting will be saved to the device's local storage.

      2. The Manual Selection drop-down lists will now exclude any items that are included in any Container. In this example, parts of of Package REV-DIM-0001 have been added to Truck B.

      3. Switch to a different Container (Ex. Truck D). Since the Package still includes items that are not yet in a container, the package will still display, but the items that are included in a different container (Ex. Truck B) do not display in the list.

  5. To add items like a part, assembly, package, or shop item to the selected container, under the Manual Selection section, identify the Project, Model, Container, and or Item that will be added to the container.

  6. As you add items to the Container, the Contents will grow.
  7. Assembly parts can be expanded and contracted by clicking the expander icon .

  8. To Remove Items from the Contents of a Container, either:
    1. Click the Remove button to remove an individual item. After all individual items have been removed from the container, the Tracking history will remain. New items can be added to the container.
    2. Click the Empty Container button to remove all items from the container.
      1. The prompt to remove all items from the container will display.

      2. When OK is clicked, another prompt to start a new Tracking Log for the container will display.

        1. Cancel - Click Cancel to retain the Tracking entries for historical reference.

        2. OK - Click OK to delete the Tracking entries.

Container Tracking Log Entry

A Container Tracking log entry is made whenever a package, assembly, part, or container is added to or removed from a container and when a container or container contents are moved to another container. This feature provides customers with either a permanent container tracking history or a history that is temporary and can be cleared. Note: The contents of a nested container will not be updated.

Container events (add, remove, empty) are logged in the applicable container, package, assembly, and part’s tracking log, so the history of what happened related to a container is transparent. The Contents column displays the contents of the container at the time of the event. Updates will be visible in the following locations:

  1. Container Tracking

  2. Package Tracking

  3. Assembly Tracking

  4. Part Property

  5. QR Code Scanned page (Assembly example)

Add Container A to Container B (Sub-container)

If a container is included within another container, the sub-container can be managed (Empty Container and Remove Item) as if it were the selected container so that the user does not have to switch between containers.

    4. Remove item button - Click the Remove button to remove individual items from the sub-container.
