View Styles (Admin)

The  View Styles settings enable administrators to define styles that are targeted to Isometric, Front, and Top views that display on reports. A style can include settings to render dimensions or not, to include item numbers or not, to limit the view style to a Part Filter, the thickness of a dimension line, arrowhead style and color, and item number bubble background. Once defined, a style is applied to the Template which is used to generate reports like a Spool Sheet report.

Define a View Style

This section describes how to define a new view style. See the Style Element Definitions section below for examples of each style element.

  1. To define a View Style, under Admin > Company > View Styles, click the +New View Style button.
  2. Make whatever changes you would like. See the Style Element Definitions section below for examples of each style element.
  3. Scroll to the far right and click the green checkmark to save your changes or the red “x” to discard the new styles.

Apply a View Style to a Template

  1. To apply a View Style to a Template, go to Admin > Company > Templates. See the Top View, Front View, Isometric View section in the Templates (Admin) article for more information.

View the Style on a Report

To view the style on a report:

  1. Make sure your Template is associated with a Report like a Spool Sheet report on the Admin > Company > Reports page. The report below is targeted as an option on the Assembly Viewer page.


  2. Under Assemblies > Viewer, open an assembly that would use the above report.


  3. Before running the report, set the dimensions or numbering in the viewer as needed. You can modify the orientation later too.


  4. Click the STRATUS Sheet tab. Your style changes will be visible in the report. See the Style Element Definitions section below for examples of each style element


Style Element Definitions

  1. Render Dimensions 

    1. When Render Dimensions is checked the report displays the dimensions and dimension lines. When unchecked the report does not display dimensions or dimension lines.
    2. Render Dimensions checked

  2. Display Decimal Inch

    1. When checked, the report view associated with the View Style will report decimal inch dimension values instead of fractional inch values.
        

  3. Render Item Numbers 

    1. Render Item Numbers determines whether item numbers will be displayed.
    2. Render Item Numbers checked


    3. Render Item Numbers unchecked


  4. Part Appearance 

    1. The Part Appearance option allows administrators to determine how parts will display including Hidden Line, Color, Realistic, and Shaded. Note: When publishing from CAD, Fabrication parts will display faces. When publishing from Revit, Fabrication parts will not display faces.

  5. Display Mode

    1. The Display Mode setting can be applied to assembly and package detail reports. The Display Mode setting lists the Display Mode tools' tabs. 

    2. The selected item will apply the Display Mode to the STRATUS Sheet. In this example, Assemblies were selected. As a result, each assembly in the STRATUS Sheet is the same color as the assembly in the Display Modes > Assemblies tab.

  6. Hidden Parts Shaded

    1. When Hidden Parts Shaded is selected, hidden parts around the package or assembly will display. In the example below, the Package is coloring Assemblies like in Display Mode and is showing Hidden Parts Shaded.

  7. Part Visibility Filter

    1. The Part Visibility Filter filters out parts that meet the filter criteria. See the Vic Coupling example on this page.

  8. Dimension Visibility Filter

    1. The Dimension Visibility Filter leaves the part viewable on the sheet but filters out the dimensions attached to the part.

  9. Tag Visibility Filter

    1. The Tag Visibility Filter leaves the part viewable on the sheet but filters out the part number associated with the part. See the Vic Coupling example on this page.

  10. Part Filter 

    1. The Filter option allows administrators to configure views that isolate certain types of components within an assembly or package.  If a filter is applied to a view, any parts that don’t pass the filter, as well as their associated dimensions will be hidden. If a dimension extends from one element to another, and one of the elements is not visible, the dimension will also not be visible. For example, a view can be configured using a Part Filter where item numbers would only display for weld objects.  Configure Filters under Admin > Company > Parts.  Set the Filter as part of a View Style under Admin > Company > View Styles.

  11. Ext. Line Color 

    1. Ext. Line Color determines the color of extension lines.

    1. Additional Ext. Ln. Length (Px.) determines the additional length (in pixels) inserted at the ends of extension lines.

    1. Label Font determines the font used to display the labels.

    1. Lbl. Font Size (Pt.) determines the size of the label font.

    1. Dimension Arrowhead is used to select whether the arrowhead will be a Tick, Filled or None.

    1. Dimension Arrowhead Color determines the color of the Dimension arrowhead.

    1. Dimension Arrowhead Size determines the size of the arrowhead for the dimensions.

  23. Dimension Tick Arrowhead Thickness

    1. Dimension Tick Arrowhead Thickness determines the thickness of the Tick lines for dimensions. This has no effect if Dimension Arrowhead is set to “Filled”, “Open” or “None”.

    1. Item Number Arrowhead determines whether there is an arrowhead on the leader for an item number.

    1. Item Number Leader Thickness determines the item number leader thickness.

  29. Item Number Bubble Background Color

    1. Item Number Bubble Background Color determines the background color of the “bubble” in which an item number appears.

    4. Transparency Option:
      1. Click the color picker drop-down. A palette of colors can be selected. Note the rgba configuration for the selected color. The “a” value is used to indicate the transparency where 1 is 0% transparency and 0 is 100% transparency. Decimals between 0 and 1 (0.1, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, etc.) can be used to set the transparency percent. 


      2. In this example, the “a” value has been set to 0.25. Note how the color to the right of the rgba value changes.


      3. When applied to an STRATUS Sheet in the Assemblies > Viewer, the transparency displays for the Item Number Bubble Color. With this transparency value set to 0.25, you can see that the other lines can be seen through the bubble color.

    1. Item Number Bubble Border Color determines the color of the border of the “bubble” in which an item number appears.

Examples

Vic Coupling - Part Visibility Filter and Tag Visibility Filter

One use case is for those who want to display Vic Couplings in the Assembly Viewer, but don’t want them to be tagged with an item number on your sheets is to use the Part Visibility Filter and Tag Visibility Filter. Here are the steps:

  1. Filter - Create a Vic Coupling filter where the Property = Source and the Rule = DoesNotContain.


  2. View Style - Setup a View Style as follows for this example.


  3. Template - Setup a Template that includes two Iso views 1) where the View style is E – Dimensions Only and 2) where the View Style is D – Numbers Only.


  4. Report - Setup a Report (or use an existing report) where the above Template is selected in the Template column.
  5. In the Assemblies Viewer, tag and dimension a spool and then run the STRATUS Sheet with the above Report selected. A STRATUS sheet similar to the following will display.


    Notice the following in the above screenshot:

    1. In the top Iso where the Part Visibility Filter = Vic Couplings, couplings do not display. With Render Dimensions checked the dimensions display.
    2. In the bottom Iso where the Tag Visibility Filter = Vic Couplings, the couplings display and are numbered. None of the other pipe or fittings are numbered.
