Projects (Admin)

The Projects page is used to synchronize BIM 360 projects with STRATUS. Once a project is synchronized the project status can be set to Active. Once team members have been added to an Active project, those team members will be able to see the project and will be able to publish models to the project.

Add Projects from Autodesk Construction Cloud

  1. To synchronize new and updated BIM 360 projects with STRATUS, click the Add Projects from Autodesk Construction Cloud button. This will link will synchronize each BIM 360 project with STRATUS.

    1. During the sync process whether the Add Projects from Autodesk Construction Cloud or the Refresh button (individual project) is clicked, the following BIM 360 Docs project information is updated in STRATUS:
                BIM 360 Docs                            STRATUS
      1. Project Job Number                    Number

      2. Address Line 1                            Address

      3. Address Line 2                            Address

      4. City                                             City

      5. State                                           State

      6. Zip                                              Zip

      7. Project Start Date                       Target Start Date               (only applies if STRATUS Target Start Date has not been edited yet)

  2. Confirmation - When the process has completed one of the following confirmation messages will display:
    1. Projects added to company: >0
    2. Projects added to company: 0

  3. Refresh Project - To refresh the project information from an individual BIM 360 project with STRATUS, click the Refresh button associated with the project. Content will be updated as described above.

Activate a Project and Add Team Members

By default, after a project is synchronized with STRATUS for the first time, its status is set to Active.

  1. While the project is active, it does not yet have any Team members. See the Team (Admin) article for adding team members to the project.
  2. Once team members are added to an Active project, those team members can see the project and can publish models to the project. Note: A team member may need to click their badge and then the Refresh Permissions button for the project to be visible.

BIM 360 Root Folder Path

The BIM 360 root folder path and A360 Folder Path can be specified when publishing. Currently, the default BIM 360 root folder path is Project Files. Use the Default Company BIM360 Root Folder Path to change the default path for all new projects, or, set the BIM360 Folder Path for individual projects.

For Revit see the Configure BIM 360 Publish Folder Path article for more details.

For AutoCAD see the Configure BIM 360 Publish Folder Path article for more details.

Below is a summary.

To set the Default Company BIM360 Root Folder Path:

  1. To configure the default BIM 360 root folder path click the current path name, Project Files in this example.

  2. The Set default company BIM360 root folder path dialog will display.

  3. Manually enter the new default company BIM360 root folder path. Project Files must be included in the path.

    1. For example, if the default path will be a subfolder of Project Files, enter the following:
      Project Files\subfolder name

    2. Note: STRATUS cannot determine if the specified folder path is valid.

  4. The Default Company BIM 360 Root Folder Path can be overridden at the project level. See the A360 Folder Path section below.

Projects Table

  1. Status - Sets the visible status of the project for users. See the Activate a Project and Add Team Members section for more information.
  2. Number - The project job number is initially populated from BIM 360. See the Add Projects from BIM 360 section for more information.
  3. Name - The project name.
  4. Name Override - The Name Override option enables a company to override the project name imported from BIM 360. This is especially useful to companies who have a BIM 360 project naming standard and would like to use a different project name in STRATUS.

To initiate a Project Name Override:

    1. Go to Admin > Company > Projects, click the Name Override link associated with the project, and enter a name.

    2. After a page refresh or a newly generated report, the Name Override will be applied wherever the Project Name is referenced.

  5. Description - The project Description will default to "A360" but can be edited.
  6. A360 Folder Path - The Default Company BIM 360 Root Folder Path (see the BIM 360 Root Folder Path section for more information), can be overridden at the project level in the A360 Folder Path setting. See one of the following article sections for more information.
Warning: The A360 Publish Folder Path can be edited for existing projects, however, any models that have already been published to an A360 Publish Folder Path will continue to be published to the same BIM 360 folder path. In other words, a model can only have one A360 Publish Folder Path. Only newly published models will use an edited A360 Publish Folder Path.
    1. AutoCAD Configure BIM 360 Publish Folder Path
    2. Revit Configure BIM 360 Publish Folder Path
  7. Address - The project Address can be initially populated from BIM 360. See the Add Projects from BIM 360 section for more information.

    1. (Ignore this option if you are not using the Purchasing and Supplier portal features.)
  14. Manufacturer Source Type - The Manufacture Source Type is used by STRATUS Purchasing features. Ignore this option if you are not using the Purchasing and Supplier port features. The Manufacture Source Type tells the supplier if procurement for a project is:

    • Domestic American
    • Domestic Americas (North and South America)
    • Foreign
    • Unspecified
  15. A360 Construction TypeThe project A360 Construction Type is populated from BIM 360. This field is editable in STRATUS. Note: If the project’s Refresh button is clicked, non-Empty data from Autodesk BIM 360 will overwrite any edits made in STRATUS. See the Add Projects from BIM 360 section for more information.
  16. A360 Project TypeThe project A360 Project Type is populated from BIM 360.
    1. This field is editable in STRATUS. Note: If the project’s Refresh button is clicked, non-Empty data from Autodesk BIM 360 will overwrite any edits made in STRATUS.
See the Add Projects from BIM 360 section for more information.
  17. A360 Business UnitThe project A360 Business Unit is populated from BIM 360.
    1. This field is editable in STRATUS. Note: If the project’s Refresh button is clicked, non-Empty data from Autodesk BIM 360 will overwrite any edits made in STRATUS.

  18. Project Color - The project color is used on the Packages > Status Board to help identify projects.

Projects Hosted on Different Company BIM 360 Docs Hubs

Follow these steps when a project is hosted on a different company's BIM 360 Docs hub.

  1. Create the project in your BIM 360 hub, even if you only use that project for STRATUS. There is a one-to-one relationship between Docs and STRATUS companies. This prevents your STRATUS company from seeing another company’s Docs files.
  2. Under Admin > Company > Projects, click the Add Projects from BIM 360 button in STRATUS. STRATUS will synchronize new Docs projects in STRATUS. Note: The status of these projects will be New. Change them to Active for team members to view them (see steps above).
  3. To publish a model to the project:

    1. Open up the central model hosted on the other company’s site using your normal business procedures.

    2. Click the Publish button. The publish dialogue will display where you will see the list of projects in your Bim 360 Docs hub.

    3. Select the project and proceed with the normal publish process.
