Package Point List
STRATUS supports a web-based workflow for generating Total Station CSV point and DXF graphics files for hanger and other recognized points scoped out using packages. To use the Point Lists feature the detailer will need to draw the model with points that are designated as Anchor or Positioning points (in Revit), and your Admin will need to setup a Total Station tool and a jobsite station (in Stratus).
Each station in Stratus will correspond to real hardware that you will upload your point lists too. In addition, the package must include hangers for the Point Lists > Generate Point List button to be enabled.
Configure a Total Station Tool and a Station
To configure a Total Station Tool and a Station:
Under Admin > Company > Tools, click New Tool and select the Total Station Type.
Under Admin > Company > Stations, click New Station. In this example, the station will be named “Total Station 1”. Select a Division that will receive the points on a Total Station. Select the Total Station tool.
Create Points for Point Lists in Revit
Points that get added to point lists, only get added if they have the correct Point Type. Point Type is set in your authoring tool. Point Types that get added to point list are Anchor or Positioning. In the next couple of steps, we will edit a hanger family type in Revit, and change the top point so that it is a Point Type that qualifies for being part of a point list.
In Revit, to set the “Point Type” on a hanger, edit the Revit Family, then edit the sub-part:
Next select the anchor point:
Edit that sub-element (the part that will be the point of interest) and set the Point Type to “Anchor”
When you save this, you have to load the sub family back into the family, then save the family, and load it back into the model.
Note well: Earlier versions of this documentation said that Points that were GTP points would be included in the generated point list, but that is not true. Rather, points with a point type of Anchor or Positioning will be included in the point list.
Generate Point Lists in Stratus
To Generate Point Lists:
Add the hangers or other parts including points into a package in STRATUS under Models > Viewer > Actions > Packages. Points added to the point list are filtered based on point type.
Once the package tracking status is locked down by assigning a status that does not allow ‘Can Package’, go into the package details page and open the ‘Point Lists’ tab. Click the Generate Point Lists button.
After the point list is generated, make sure the correct Station (Total Station 1) is assigned. Then, click the checkbox for the point list, and then click the Send Point List to Station button.
Next, click the Jobsites menu item and locate the correct station (Total Station 1). Notice the #Point Lists assigned value is 1 in this example.
Once in the Total Station Tool tab you can view the Queued Items and will find the point list from the listed package. Click the download button at the right to extract the CSV and DXF files for this point list. Note, sometimes the browser prompts with a message to allow multiple file downloads, allow this. The status can be manually updated in this view as well from In Progress to Complete.
The resulting points CSV file will look similar to the following:
The resulting DXF file will be a subset of the overall model, only containing content within the region of the package definition. It will display grid lines, centerlines for recognized systems, and point symbols, similar to the following:
Coordinate System
For Revit models that have a shared coordinate transformation, users now have the option to export the CSV and DXF for the Total Station tool using either Shared or Model (Project Internal) coordinates on a per project basis.
To set the Coordinate System:
Under Admin > Project > Settings, select the Coordinate System and Save.
To export the CSV and DXF files for a point list, see the Configure a Total Station Tool and a Station and
Generate Point Lists sections above.
